Thank you so much for taking the time to discuss Ella’s work with you and explaining more about what you’ve learned about her and how I can interact more successfully. She’s a unicorn and I want her to know it too.
We unfortunately did not find out about Janell and her programs until our daughter was 16 years old. After many years of academically low performance in math and foreign language and continually reaching out to the schools, only to be told “she’d be fine”, did we stumble upon this program from a referral, and simultaneously complete academic and neurological testing for the purpose of school requests for accommodations, and soon after beginning program with Janell. Our daughter was not a believer in the beginning; after all, when you have gone from tutor to tutor and program to program, she could master the information in the moment, but she was continually unable to recall the info for testing purposes.
However, after several months of intense work and follow up sessions with Janell and Melissa, she has begun to own her own processes and begin to believe that with that ownership comes opportunity. Opportunity to create a new pattern for herself; by choosing to work with her strengths, rather than focus on her weaknesses. She is beginning to see that she is gifted, unique, and that piece (called ADHD- inattentive) that made life sooo hard for so many years, needs to be approached differently. We have known that she needed a different method of teaching- we had no idea it would be in this form, this late in her academic life, and with this much potential to change the course of her life in such a small amount of time. It’s like someone finally found the right key. And what a sense of relief it is. I don’t believe with any “condition”, there is an end to the journey; but the journey itself, and the milestones of success that she herself will hopefully come to see more clearly, will enrich her life as much, or more than any stamp of completion of a course. We are more confident now than we have ever been, that she will be able to set a goal and know that she does have the ability to reach it.
"I can’t say enough about my experience working with Janell. From the very beginning, she made me feel seen, heard, and respected as an individual. I had struggled with reading for most of my life, and honestly, I thought I had hit a wall—I never imagined I could improve beyond a certain level.
But Janell’s approach was completely different from anything I had tried before. She didn’t just give me a one-size-fits-all program; she tailored every step to my specific needs, strengths, and learning style. Because of that, I started making progress faster than I ever expected.
The biggest surprise? I advanced in my reading levels beyond what I thought was even possible for me. For the first time, I actually enjoy reading. Janell didn’t just help me improve my skills; she helped me see my own potential. I’m so grateful for this experience!"
"As a parent, watching my child's frustration with reading was heartbreaking. We had tried different programs and methods, but nothing seemed to truly help—until we found Janell. From the very first session, it was clear that this wasn’t just another one-size-fits-all approach.
Janell took the time to understand my child’s unique strengths and challenges, tailoring the program specifically to their needs. More importantly, she treated my child with so much respect and encouragement, making them feel capable and confident rather than frustrated or defeated.
The progress they made was beyond anything we had hoped for. They moved up in reading levels we never thought were possible, and for the first time, they actually enjoy reading! Seeing their confidence grow has been incredible, and we are so grateful for Janell’s guidance and support. This program has truly been life-changing for our child!"
"For six years, our son struggle with math. No matter what we tried—tutors, extra practice, school support—nothing seemed to click. Instead of helping, it only led to more frustration and a growing sense of defeat. His confidence hit an all-time low, and we started to wonder if he would ever feel capable in math.
A friend referred Janell. From day one, she truly listened—not just to his struggles with math, but to him as a person.
For the first time, something shifted. He didn’t just gain skills in math—he gained confidence. He no longer dreads math, and instead of shutting down, he approaches problems knowing he can figure them out. The biggest win for us? He’s finally okay with math. That may sound small, but for us, it’s huge! Seeing him believe in himself is something we never thought we’d witness, and we are beyond grateful for this experience!”
"I have struggled with focus and time blindness my whole life. It was something I carried shame around—constantly setting timers all over my house, in my car, anywhere I could just to make sure I didn’t forget an appointment… or my kids! It always felt like I was barely keeping up.
Working with Janell has been amazing. I wasn’t fighting against myself—I was learning how my brain actually works as a Visual-Spatial learner. I gained skills to be free of coping mechanisms, I was given tools that gave me control. Tools that allowed me to function—not just survive.
I never imagined I could experience this kind of freedom—freedom from the constant anxiety, from feeling like I was failing at ‘adulting'. Now, I have strategies that work for me and I feel in control of my life.
Thank you Janell.
